Training Course in Pediatric Dermatology (SGDV/SSDV)
Pediatric
skin diseases play an important role in primary health care institutions and are commonly
s
een in daily routine of Pediatricians and Dermatologists. A broad spectrum of skin conditions affecting
all
ages from newborns to adolescents may be encountered. Prompt and correct diagnosis requires
v
isual skills to recognize specific patterns and peculiarities of pediatric skin. Pediatric Dermatology
today
stands for a lot more than treating eczema and rashes with creams which is well reflected by the
program
of this event. This Swiss national training course takes place every two years in order to
teach Dermatology residents in training as well as fully qualified Dermatologists, Pediatricians and
General
Practitioners. It includes common skin problems which are relevant in daily practice but also
s
ome focus topics of more advanced content. Experts in the field will give insights into new strategies
o
f treating pediatric psoriasis, atopic dermatitis as well as v ascular anomalies, which more and more
incl
ude targeted systemic therapies, that should not be withheld from children only because they are
children. Many of us are experiencing scabies infestations on the rise and encounter difficult to treat
c
ases in the very young age group of infants and toddler. Thus this topic is in focus, among other
i
nfectious skin diseases and common problems such as hair loss, acne and congenital developmental
anom
alies in infants.
We are very pleased to have been able to commit renown experts from abroad to contribute to this
meeting,
including Mario Cutrone from Venice (Neonatal Dermatology), Nicole Knöpfel from London
(Mosaic Disorders), Smajl Hadj-Rabi
a from Paris (Genetic Skin Diseases) and Elen a B. Hawryluk from
Boston (Melanocytic Lesions).
